Undo AI changes in WordPress: with Pro, and without
Claude changed the wrong page, or a file edit went wrong. With Pro, you ask Claude, and it brings the old version back from an undo point. Without Pro, WordPress revisions, the trash and your backup help.
What you need.
- AlphaBridge Pro or Agency Undo points come with Pro and Agency. You can try Pro for 7 days without a card.
- Write access on Taking a change back is a change too. Pro's
wp_undowrites, so write access must be on. - The same user Pro's undo points belong to the user who made the change. Undoing in Pro needs the same permission as the change itself.
- Within Pro's undo window Pro keeps undo points 7 days by default. An administrator can set 1 to 30 days.
In 5 steps.
Find the undo point in Pro
Ask Claude which changes it can take back. Pro's wp_undo_list shows your undo points. Each has a token, the tool it came from, a short summary and an expiry. You see only your own.
Look at the preview
Ask for a preview first. With dry_run=true, Pro's wp_undo shows what it would restore and what it would refuse. Nothing changes in this step.
Take the change back
Then let Claude run it for real. Pro checks each item again against the current state of the site. An option that has been protected since then is reported as blocked, not restored. A page-builder page comes back byte for byte, in every stored copy.
If the page changed since
After a page-builder change or an ability run, Pro refuses a page that someone changed since. Look at the newer edits first. With force=true, Pro puts every stored copy back byte for byte anyway.
Check the result and tidy up
Open the page or the site and check it. Once a change is confirmed good, Pro's wp_undo_discard drops its undo point.
What Pro can undo, and what it cannot.
Pro takes back only changes whose answer contains an undo token.
Pro brings these changes back:
- Edits to pages and to page-builder elements.
- Theme files and plugin files, also deleted ones.
- PHP snippets in Code Snippets or WPCode.
- Search and replace, but only on page-builder pages.
- Posts that another plugin's ability changed, if the ability's input names the post.
Pro keeps the newest 50 undo points. Each lasts 7 days by default, adjustable from 1 to 30 days.
Pro records no undo point for these changes:
- Shop changes in WooCommerce, such as prices, stock or order status.
- SEO titles, descriptions and focus keywords.
- Changes to users and to terms.
- Database writes.
- Search and replace outside page-builder pages.
- Directories, and deleting plugins or themes.
Pro records undo points as far as it can. Above 1 MB after compression, or when storage runs out, Pro may record none. Some tools then go ahead without one. Others refuse, or go ahead only when the call accepts that. If you switch off Pro's undo tool, Pro records no undo points.
An order status change can send e-mails to your customers. Once sent, an e-mail stays sent, so check shop changes before you apply them. Pro's undo points do not replace a backup either. They can fail, for example when the site changed in the meantime.
Without Pro: revisions, the trash and backups.
Undo points need Pro or Agency, but WordPress can restore some things on its own.
- Revisions. WordPress saves revisions of posts and pages. In the editor, open the revisions, compare them and restore an older one.
- Revisions by chat. In the free plugin, Claude lists a post's revisions with
wp_list_revisions. Restoring one by chat takes Pro'swp_restore_revision. Without Pro, you restore it in the editor. - Trash. AlphaBridge's
wp_delete_postmoves a post to the trash unlessforce=trueis set. Restore it from the trash in the list of posts or pages. WordPress empties the trash after 30 days by default. - Page builders. Some builders keep a page in their own data. Whether a WordPress revision restores that depends on the builder. Check the builder's own history.
- Backups. For files, settings, users or the shop, restore from your backup or your host's backup. A full restore also resets good changes made since.
- Audit log. The log shows which tools ran, when and with which result. It helps you find what to restore.
Before the next job, take a fresh backup. It is the way out for everything Pro cannot take back.
What to say to Claude with Pro.
Plain words are enough. Claude picks the right tool.
- Which of today's changes can you take back?
- Show me what taking back the button change would restore.
- Take back the last change on the About page.
- Put the previous version of header.php back.
- The About page looks right now. Discard the saved old version.
Questions and answers.

Pro keeps undo points 7 days by default. An administrator can set 1 to 30 days. Pro keeps the newest 50, together at most 100 MB.
Can Pro undo a WooCommerce, SEO or user change?
No. Pro's shop, SEO and user tools record no undo point. Database writes have none either. Check such changes before you apply them, and keep a backup.

Can I undo AI changes without Pro?
Undo points come with Pro and Agency only. Without Pro, use WordPress revisions, the trash and your backup. The audit log of the free plugin shows which tools ran and when.
Does Pro's undo replace a backup?
No. Undo points in Pro can fail, for example when storage runs out. They also leave out the shop, SEO, users and database writes. Keep a current backup outside the site.
