Privacy policy

In short: without your consent, this website sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads nothing from third-party servers while you browse. Analytics run only if you choose “Accept” in the cookie banner (section 3). Our host, Netlify, processes your IP address and other access data to deliver the pages (section 2); beyond that, personal data only comes into play if you write to us by e-mail or through the contact form, apply for the affiliate program, or start a checkout. 2. Hosting and server logs

This website is hosted by Netlify, Inc., San Francisco, California, USA. Netlify delivers the pages through its global server network; your request may be answered by a server outside the EU, including in the USA. When you visit the site, Netlify automatically processes the access data transmitted by your browser (IP address, date and time, the address requested, referrer, browser type). This serves reliable and secure operation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Netlify's data processing agreement states that the logs of all components supporting its services are kept online for 90 days and offline for one year. Netlify processes this data on our behalf under its data processing agreement, which is part of our contract with Netlify (Art. 28 GDPR). Netlify is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, on which transfers to the USA are based (Art. 45 GDPR); the agreement provides the EU standard contractual clauses as a fallback. Netlify lists its sub-processors at netlify.com/legal/subprocessors.

3. Cookies and analytics, only with your consent

Until you decide, this website sets no cookies and loads nothing from Google or Microsoft. A banner asks whether we may use the analytics services described below. “Accept” and “Decline” are equal choices; nothing is pre-selected. If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a decline and do not show the banner, unless you choose “Accept” yourself under “Cookie settings”.

Your choice

Your browser stores your choice in its local storage (entry ab_einwilligung), together with the version of this section and the date, so the banner does not appear on every page. If this section changes, we ask again. If your browser does not let us save a decline there, we delete the stored choice and keep the decline in its session storage until you close the tab. If you switch the language, your browser also remembers that choice there (entry ab_sprache). These entries stay in your browser; we do not receive them.

The legal basis for the analytics services is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR; for storing and reading information on your device, § 25(1) TDDDG). You can withdraw it at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR): click “Cookie settings” at the bottom of any page and choose “Decline”. We then switch off the analytics services immediately, delete their cookies on our domain and reload the page. If neither storage accepts a change, the page does not reload, since your earlier consent would otherwise apply again. Cookies on Microsoft's own domains can only be deleted in your browser settings.

Google Analytics 4

Provider: Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Google Analytics shows us how this website is used: which pages are viewed, where visitors come from, which device and browser they use, their approximate location, and which buttons and links they click — for example the buy and trial buttons, the language switch and the links to WordPress.org and the Claude directory. It also learns whether a purchase or trial was completed in the checkout window: the edition, yearly or monthly billing, and whether it was a trial. It never learns your name, e-mail address or the amount. According to Google, IP addresses of users in the EU, Switzerland and the UK are used only to derive the location and are then discarded. Our code switches off Google signals and ad personalisation and refuses storage for advertising.

Cookies: _ga distinguishes visitors, _ga_<ID> keeps the state of the session; both last 2 years. Google deletes detailed event and user data after 14 months; this does not affect summary reports.

Google processes the data on our behalf under the Google Ads Data Processing Terms (Art. 28 GDPR). Data may be transferred to Google LLC in the USA. Google LLC is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (Art. 45 GDPR); the data processing terms also provide the EU standard contractual clauses. More in Google's privacy policy.

Microsoft Clarity

Provider: Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited, One Microsoft Place, South County Business Park, Leopardstown, Dublin 18, Ireland. Clarity records how visitors use our pages — mouse movements, clicks and scrolling — as session recordings and heatmaps, so we can see where a page is unclear. By default, Clarity masks the content of input fields, numbers and e-mail addresses; masked content is not transmitted. Clarity uses your IP address to determine your approximate location. Clarity also receives the names of a few events, for example a click on a buy button or a completed purchase or trial, without further details.

Cookies on our domain: _clck (visitor ID, 1 year) and _clsk (joins the pages of one visit into one recording, 1 day). Clarity may also use cookies on Microsoft's own domains (CLID, ANONCHK, MR, MUID, SM). Recordings are kept for 30 days; recordings we mark as favourites, a random sample of recordings, and heatmaps for up to 9 months.

Under Clarity's terms of use, we and Microsoft are each responsible for our own processing (independent controllers). Microsoft collects personal data on this website and may use it for its own purposes under the Microsoft Privacy Statement, including to improve its products and to provide Microsoft Advertising. Data is stored in Microsoft's Azure cloud and may be transferred to Microsoft Corporation in the USA. Microsoft Corporation is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (Art. 45 GDPR); between Microsoft Ireland and Microsoft Corporation, the EU standard contractual clauses apply. More in the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

4. Checkout via Freemius

If you choose to buy a paid edition, the checkout is provided by Freemius, Inc. (merchant of record). The checkout script is loaded from Freemius servers only when you click a purchase button, and Freemius then processes the data required for the purchase (such as name, e-mail, payment and billing details) as an independent controller. If you have agreed to analytics (section 3), our website reports that a purchase or trial was completed. It never reports your name, e-mail address or the amount. Details: Freemius privacy policy.

5. Licences and updates in Pro and Agency

This section concerns the paid editions on your WordPress site, not this website. When you activate a licence, the plugin connects to Freemius, Inc., which manages the licences and delivers the updates for us. It transmits the address of your site, the versions of the plugin and of the Freemius software development kit (SDK), and whether the plugin is active, deactivated or uninstalled, so that updates reach only the sites you have authorised and you can move a licence. If Freemius does not yet know the licence holder, the plugin also transmits the first and last name and the e-mail address of the WordPress user who activates the licence. On the activation screen you decide whether the WordPress and PHP versions and the language and title of your site are transmitted as well (preset: yes) and whether the list of installed plugins and themes is (preset: no). If you deactivate the plugin, Freemius asks for a reason. Answering is optional. The free plugin from WordPress.org transmits nothing to Freemius.

Freemius processes this data on our behalf under its data processing addendum (Art. 28 GDPR), which incorporates the EU standard contractual clauses for the transfer to the USA (Art. 46 GDPR). Where Freemius, as the seller of the licence, pursues purposes of its own, such as checking licences and preventing misuse, it is responsible itself; see the Freemius privacy policy. The legal basis is the licence contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). For the versions, the language and the title, it is our legitimate interest in keeping the plugin compatible with your site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR); you can untick these details on the activation screen. The list of plugins and themes is transmitted only with your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

6. Contact, contact form and affiliate applications

If you contact us by e-mail, we process the data you provide (address, message content) to handle your request (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR) and delete it once the request is settled and no statutory retention duties apply. Our mailbox is hosted by Infomaniak Network SA, Geneva, Switzerland; Switzerland benefits from an EU adequacy decision (Art. 45 GDPR).

If you use the contact form, Netlify (section 2) receives your entries for us — your e-mail address, your message and, if you give it, your name — and keeps them in our Netlify account; we are notified by e-mail. Netlify checks every submission for spam with Akismet, a service of Automattic Inc., San Francisco, USA, which receives the content of the submission for this purpose. We use the data only to answer you (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR) and delete the submission at Netlify and in our mailbox once the request is settled and no statutory retention duties apply.

If you apply for the affiliate program with the form, Netlify receives your entries for us in the same way, and Akismet checks them for spam. These are your name, your e-mail address, your website or channel, how you plan to recommend AlphaBridge and, if you give it, your PayPal address. We use them to review your application (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). If we approve it, we add you as an affiliate at Freemius (section 4) with these details. Freemius then sends you your affiliate links and tracks referrals, under the program terms and its privacy policy. We pay the commissions ourselves, monthly via PayPal to the PayPal address you give us (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Freemius, Inc. is based in the USA. We pass your details to it because your participation in the program runs through Freemius (Art. 49(1)(b) GDPR). We delete the submission at Netlify and in our mailbox once we have decided on the application and no statutory retention duties apply.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21), as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77) — for us, the Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit Baden-Württemberg.

If you are in Switzerland, the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) also applies. You have the right of access (Art. 25 FADP) and the right to have incorrect data corrected (Art. 32(1) FADP), and you can demand that a processing stop or that data be deleted (Art. 32(2) FADP). The supervisory authority in Switzerland is the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC). Recipients in the USA and the basis of the transfer: Netlify (sections 2 and 6, including its spam check with Akismet) is certified under the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. So is Google LLC (section 3). So is Microsoft Corporation (section 3). Switzerland recognises this certification as adequate protection (Annex 1 to the Data Protection Ordinance). Freemius, Inc. (sections 4 and 5) bases the transfer on the EU standard contractual clauses in its data processing addendum. For an affiliate application (section 6), we disclose your details to Freemius, Inc. in direct connection with your participation in the affiliate program (Art. 17(1)(b) FADP).

Google Analytics 4

Anbieter: Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Irland.

Microsoft Clarity

Anbieter: Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited, One Microsoft Place, South County Business Park, Leopardstown, Dublin 18, Irland.
